Kooragang Industrial Water Scheme
Developed in 2014, the Kooragang Industrial Water Scheme was established to provide high quality recycled water to industrial users in the Kooragang area, to provide relief from the overextended drinking water system.
The scheme includes an advanced water treatment plant located at Mayfield West and uses membrane microfiltration and reverse osmosis to produce high-quality recycled water from raw water supplied by the Shortland Wastewater Treatment Works.
The high-quality recycled water is then supplied to industrial customers through a dedicated recycled water distribution system.
